Summary:Binary exponential backoff refers to a collision resolution mechanism used in random access MAC protocols. This algorithm is used in Ethernet (IEEE 802.3) wired LANs. In Ethernet networks, this algorithm is commonly used to schedule retransmissions after collisions.
